Returns and Refunds

We want you to be confident when ordering from GKS Builders Yard. Due to the specialist nature of building materials, certain restrictions apply to returns. Please read this policy carefully before placing an order.

1. Return Period

You may request a return within 21 days of receiving your order.

After 21 days, we are unable to offer a refund or exchange unless the goods are defective.

2. Eligibility for Returns

To qualify for a return:

  • Goods must be unused
  • Goods must be unopened
  • Goods must be in their original packaging
  • You must provide proof of purchase (order confirmation or invoice)

Items that show signs of use, damage, or improper storage cannot be accepted for return.

3. Restocking Fee

Most building materials have a limited shelf life. For this reason, all authorised returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee unless:

  • The return is due to our error, or
  • The item is confirmed to be defective

The restocking fee is applied to the value of the returned goods.

4. Non-Returnable Items

For safety, quality, and resale reasons, the following products cannot be returned:

Special Order Items

Products sourced or manufactured specifically for you, including bulk quantities not held in standard stock.

Tinted or Colour-Mixed Products

This includes silicone renders, paints, coatings, and any product mixed to your chosen colour.

These items cannot be resold and are strictly non-returnable.

Perishable or Shelf-Sensitive Goods

Examples include:

  • Cement-based adhesives and basecoats
  • Reinforcing compounds
  • Materials close to expiry

These products degrade over time and cannot be re-stocked.

Hazardous Goods

Flammable, pressurised, or otherwise restricted materials that cannot be safely returned.

5. Damaged or Defective Items

Please inspect your goods immediately upon delivery.

If an item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect:

  1. Contact us as soon as possible
  2. Provide your order number
  3. Attach clear photos of the issue

We will assess the claim and arrange a replacement, refund, or other suitable remedy.

6. Refunds

Approval Process

Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of approval or rejection.

Refund Amount

Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method minus:

  • The 20% restocking fee (unless waived)
  • Original delivery charges
  • Return shipping charges (if arranged by us on your behalf)

Refunds typically take 5–7 working days to appear, depending on your bank.

Non-Refundable Costs

  • Delivery fees
  • Return courier costs
  • Any additional services (e.g., express shipping)

7. Return Shipping

Customers are responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping unless the return is due to our error.

For heavy or palletised goods, consider:

  • Using a tracked courier
  • Purchasing shipping insurance
  • Ensuring the pallet is securely repackaged

We cannot guarantee that returned items will reach us without damage.
