Other Policies

This page explains several important policies relating to colour accuracy, special orders, technical documentation, installation responsibility, cancellations, and warranties. These policies apply alongside our Terms & Conditions of Sale.

1. Colour & Tinting Disclaimer

Many products - especially silicone renders, paints, primers and coatings - are tinted or mixed to order.

1.1 Colour Variations

Colour appearance may vary due to:

  • Screen or monitor differences
  • Batch variations
  • Substrate colour and preparation
  • Lighting conditions
  • Application technique

Manufacturers’ colour charts and RAL references are indicative only.

1.2 Samples Recommended

We recommend ordering:

  • Colour testers
  • Sample pots or swatches
  • Small trial quantities

before committing to full orders.

1.3 Non-Returnable Colour-Mixed Products

Tinted or colour-mixed products are non-returnable and non-refundable in all circumstances, except where defective.

Colour variation is not considered a defect.

2. Special Order Policy

Special Order Items include:

  • Tinted or colour-mixed renders and paints
  • Non-stock insulation thicknesses or materials
  • Bulk quantities sourced or manufactured specifically
  • Cut-to-size or bespoke items
  • Any item not normally held in inventory

2.1 Non-Returnable

Special orders cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded (except in cases of confirmed defect).

2.2 Lead Times

Lead times vary by manufacturer and supplier. These times are estimates only.

2.3 Why Special Orders Are Non-Returnable

They cannot be resold, may be batch-specific, or may have limited shelf life.

3. Technical Data Sheets & Installation Responsibility

3.1 Customer Responsibility

Building materials must be installed correctly using:

  • Manufacturer technical data sheets (TDS)
  • Safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Approved system guides
  • Proper substrate preparation techniques

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure correct installation.

3.2 Advice Disclaimer

Any advice provided by GKS Builders Yard (email, phone, or message) is general guidance only and must not replace manufacturer instructions or professional installation advice.

We are not responsible for:

  • Incorrect installation
  • System failure due to incompatible materials
  • Misuse of products
  • Failure to follow technical documentation

4. Cancellation Policy (Before Dispatch)

4.1 Standard Stock Items

Orders for standard stock items may be cancelled before dispatch if the order has not begun processing.

4.2 Special Orders

Special Order Items cannot be cancelled once tinting, sourcing, cutting or production has begun.

4.3 Refunds

If a cancellation is accepted:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Payment processing fees may be deducted if non-refundable
  • Orders already dispatched must follow our Returns & Refunds Policy

5. Warranty Summary

5.1 Manufacturer Warranties

Many products are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

To remain valid, warranties generally require:

  • Correct installation
  • Correct use of compatible system components
  • Compliance with manufacturer instructions
  • Proper storage and handling of materials

5.2 Warranty Exclusions

Warranties typically do not cover:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Damage after delivery
  • Misuse or improper storage
  • Colour variations
  • Mixing systems from different brands

5.3 Warranty Claims

Warranty claims must usually be made directly to the manufacturer.

We can assist with documentation upon request.
